Kentucky Derby May 6

The Kentucky Derby is May 6 and it’s time to look at the prospects for this year’s Triple Crown winner. The Associated Press is blogging from around the tracks and has a photo gallery and interactive report.
In our area, you have to drive north to West Virginia or south to Colonial Downs to watch live racing during the season. The off track betting parlors are a road trip away as well.
So where do you watch the Triple Crown races and how do you place your bets?

INDIANAPOLIS—It’s a day after George Mason’s championship hopes were ended, and we’re sorry to see them go. But the Patriots’ exit means an easier day for us: Instead of figuring out three stories to write, we’re left with a season wrap-up and some free time on our hands.
With that in mind, I took my sweet-natured time getting out bed this morning. With no press conferences or practices to attend, it would have been just as easy to spend the day in bed. But I had some other things in mind which pushed me out of bed.
Nervous yet Patriots fans?

It’s been a good game so far but things don’t look great for George Mason. They haven’t been able to stop the 3-point shot and they can’t get the ball into Will Thomas enough. Credit Florida’s interior defense for that. To be down by just five points, though, isn’t the worst thing in the world for a team that has come back from deficits as great as 17 points at Virginia Commonwealth earlier in the year.
