Have you ever been to a concert and tried to go the bathroom? If it was anything like any concerts I’ve been to, then you were confronted by a long line of drunken men or women who were slowly staggering forward. With each small step, hope and despair grows within you.

This meeting just became a political forum. Sharon Pandak, Corey Stewart’s Democratic opponent in the race to be chairman of the Board of County Supervisors, just came to the podium.
From what I hear, she makes it a habit to speak at citizens’ time. I don’t know if this is a cheap form of public campaigning or not, but there she is, smack-dab in the middle of an hours long marathon of comments about illegal immigration.

The sun is starting to sink in the sky and the pale gray of sunset is spreading over the crowd outside. The energy of the masses appears limitless. The crowd outside is here to stay. It reminds me of large block parties that we used to have in college. I wonder: will the crowd disperse when the party is over?

Some people have said that illegal immigrants are leaving the county because of the county’s proposed resolution. It is, of course, hard to determine if this is true. However, a Hispanic woman who drives school buses just came to the podium and confirmed this to a certain extent.

Time marches on at the McCoart building in Prince William County. Eventually every commenter blurs into the next, with the only dividing line being which side of the illegal immigration line they stand on. There are only so many opinions one can have on this subject. I think we’ve heard them all. One thing that comes across loud and clear from people on both sides, is the emotion. There have been quite a few speakers who have tried to talk to the supervisors through tears.
